New Look Taste Of Summer Festival
Hobart’s iconic Taste of Summer festival has revealed a vibrant new brand identity as it begins the 150-day countdown to its 2025 event.
Returning to the waterfront from December 27 to January 3, the eight-day celebration will showcase Tasmania’s top chefs, producers, and creatives.
Organisers are now calling for stallholders and performers, with tickets set to go on sale in late September.
Property Of The Week
Perched on the high side of a prestigious cul-de-sac, 37 Tahune Crescent offers panoramic beach and river views in one of Blackmans Bay’s most sought-after locations.
This stylish executive home features expansive dual living zones, a chef’s kitchen, and three spacious bedrooms, each with its own adjacent bathroom.
The luxurious main suite includes a double-vanity ensuite and corner bath.
Enjoy the scenery from the sun-drenched deck, easy-care gardens, and oversized garage, all just 25 minutes from Hobart CBD.
New Headspace Centre
A new headspace facility is set to open at 12 Cambridge Road, Bellerive, bringing vital youth mental health services to Hobart’s Eastern Shore.
The free centre will offer support for mental, physical, and sexual health, along with drug and alcohol counselling and job assistance.
Funded by the federal government and operated by EACH, it aims to make early intervention more accessible for young people in the region.
122 Year Old Message In A Bottle Discovered
A painter working at Cape Bruny Lighthouse has uncovered a hidden treasure: a message in a bottle dating back to 1903.
Sealed with bitumen and tucked into the lantern room wall, the note was penned by J.R. Meech, then Inspector of Lighthouses.
The letter detailed historic upgrades and named workers involved.
Experts from TMAG safely extracted and preserved the document, calling it a rare and thrilling find.
New Speed Cameras Go Live
From Today, speed cameras on the new Bridgewater Bridge will begin issuing fines after catching 800 speeding drivers per week during testing.
Authorities warn motorists to obey the 80km/h limit or face penalties up to $1,178.75 and six demerit points.
Repeat offences will result in multiple fines. The cameras can detect speeding in all lanes and directions, mirroring those on the Tasman Bridge.
