Virtual Tour Of Proposed Stadium

A new virtual tour offers a first look inside Hobart’s proposed $945 million Macquarie Point stadium.

The walkthrough showcases a 23,000-seat venue with shops, food trucks, hospitality areas, and a world-record timber roof.

Planned features include an AFL arena, cricket pitch, concert space, and a 1,500-seat conference centre.

If approved, construction could begin later this year, with opening expected by 2029.

Restaurant Of The Week

Bar Wa Izakaya offers a lively, modern Japanese dining experience in the heart of Hobart.

Known for its flavour-packed lunchtime ramen (available until 3pm) and daily-changing izakaya menu, the venue blends quality food with a casual, welcoming atmosphere.

Highlights include happy hour oysters, craft drinks, and friendly service. With vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, it’s a standout for groups and walk-ins alike—though bookings are wise.

A must-visit for Japanese food lovers.

Spirit Of Tasmania IV Sets Sail

The Spirit of Tasmania IV has officially set sail from Scotland on its six-week, 14,857-nautical-mile journey to Hobart.

The 212-metre LNG-powered ferry, delayed by weather and technical issues, will arrive in late August for final fit-out and crew training.

Its arrival marks a major upgrade to the Bass Strait fleet, increasing passenger and freight capacity.

New infrastructure in Devonport to support the vessel is on track for completion in early 2027.

20k Grant For Tasmanian Fashion Festival

Tasmania’s fashion scene is set to shine with the 2025 Tasmanian Fashion Festival receiving a $20,000 boost from the City of Hobart.

Now in its fourth year, the festival will bring ten runways to Hobart this October, celebrating local designers and sustainable fashion.

It will create homegrown opportunities for models, creatives, and industry professionals, with a strong focus on diversity and environmental consciousness—firmly placing Tasmania on Australia’s national fashion map.
