Restaurant Of The Week
Tesoro, meaning treasure, is a tribute to Tasmania’s growers and makers, brought to life through bold Italian cooking.
From breakfast to dinner, the menu celebrates local produce with refined technique and genuine hospitality.
Guests can also book the intimate private dining room, featuring plush interiors and vibrant murals by artist Steve Cross—perfect for celebrations.
Head Chef Glen Tilly champions seasonal ingredients, often sourced directly from nearby markets and woven into Tesoro’s ever-evolving menus.
Brooke Street Pier Disconnection
High winds briefly separated Hobart’s Brooke Street Pier from the wharf on Monday morning, disrupting ferry operations and reportedly requiring passengers to be transported back to land by small boats.
Maintenance was underway when a strong gust caused the floating structure to shift away from the ramp.
A Mona spokesperson said the issue was resolved within an hour.

“Barry The Brave” Sets Off On Cancer Research Rally
‘Barry the Brave’, a van decorated to resemble a Tasmanian tiger, has boarded the Spirit of Tasmania to join the Spring Shitbox Rally from Alice Springs to the Gold Coast.
Each stripe on the van represents someone affected by cancer, including team leader Emma Dooley’s late relative, Pauline Damen.
The team has raised over $30,000 and aims for $66,000 by the end of October—Pauline’s age when she died. The rally supports the Cancer Council’s research efforts.
Business Focus: Sure Thing Barber Shop
Tucked inside 84 Harrington Street, Sure Thing Barbershop is carrying on more than 60 years of barbering tradition.
Owner Finbarr returned from Melbourne in 2021 and unknowingly stepped into a space that’s been a barbershop since 1958.
Locals still recall childhood trims and family stories tied to the shop.
Today, Sure Thing offers fresh fades, hot towel shaves and a welcoming, all-inclusive vibe—now with a second barber, Will, who was once a client himself.
