Festival Of Voices Returns For 2025

Festival of Voices is Australia’s premier winter singing festival, held in Tasmania on palawa and pakana land. It unites communities through song, celebrating inclusion, collaboration, and vocal excellence.

Everyone is welcome—from beginners to professionals—to experience the transformative joy of singing together.

Restaurant Of The Week

Restaurant Maria, nestled on Brooke Street Pier’s waterfront beneath Aløft, brings a sun-drenched slice of Mediterranean glamour to Hobart.

Co‑owned by chef Christian Ryan, its airy, 1960s-inspired dining room centres on a wood‑fire grill serving flame‑kissed dishes—from charred octopus to wallaby gyros—and native botanicals.

A curated menu travels “Lisbon to Lebanon,” paired with Tassie and Mediterranean wines and cocktails.

With panoramic harbour views, MARIA offers laid‑back elegance and vibrant flavors.

Nearly 70% Want New Stadium Deal

A new poll shows 69% of Tasmanians want the Macquarie Point stadium deal renegotiated to avoid building the proposed new venue.

The YouGov survey of 842 voters found strong public support for revisiting the agreement with the AFL.

Support for renegotiation was highest among older Tasmanians, with 72% of over-65s in favour.

The poll also found widespread concern that the state is being treated unfairly in its bid to join the national competition.

Tasmanian Syndicate Wins Big

Two lucky TattsLotto tickets sold at Mowbray newsXpress in Launceston have each won $2.2 million in Saturday’s draw.

One belonged to a 12-member syndicate called ‘Full Week Fortune’, with each member set to receive over $186,000.

The other winner remains a mystery, with officials urging locals to check their tickets.

The double win adds to Tasmania’s impressive 2025 lottery streak—now at 10 major wins totalling over $6.78 million.
