Tasmanians Break Early Voting Records

More than 100,000 Tasmanians have already voted ahead of Saturday’s state election—breaking early voting records.

The Tasmanian Electoral Commission reported a significant rise compared to 2021, with high turnouts in Braddon, Franklin, and Lyons.

Voters are urged to cast their ballots early on polling day due to forecast bad weather.

Results will begin from 6:45 pm Saturday, with a public tally room open at Hobart’s Hotel Grand Chancellor from 6 pm.

Property Of The Week

62 O’Connor Drive, Kingston is a luxurious, light-filled residence in the elevated Spring Farm Estate, offering sweeping views and refined modern living.

This architecturally designed home features high ceilings, double-glazed windows, a gourmet kitchen with butler’s pantry, and a luxurious master suite with heated bathroom floors.

With landscaped gardens, a north-facing deck, ducted heating, and a 6-Star Energy Rating, it delivers style, sustainability, and comfort in one of Kingston’s most prestigious locations

Sports Centre Approval

Glenorchy City Council has approved the $28 million Glenorchy Sports Centre, a major new facility set for Claremont.

Located near Claremont College, the centre will feature four full-sized indoor courts for netball, basketball, futsal, and more, along with change rooms, a show court, and seating for up to 600 spectators.

Designed with accessibility and community use in mind, the project addresses growing demand for sports infrastructure across the northern suburbs and beyond.

Teens Arrested

Two boys, aged 14 and 12, have been charged after a violent robbery in Hobart’s CBD left a 14-year-old hospitalised with facial injuries.

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon at Mather’s Lane, where the victim was allegedly assaulted and had his iPhone stolen.

CCTV footage showed a group of youths fleeing the scene. The older boy remains in custody, while the younger has been bailed to appear in court.

Police are seeking further information from the public.
