Bridge Safety Concerns
Safety concerns are growing over the new Bridgewater Bridge off-ramps after multiple wrong-way driving incidents.
Derwent Valley Mayor Michelle Dracoulis witnessed a near-miss and is calling for clearer signage, especially where ramps meet roundabouts.
Locals have shared similar close calls, prompting the Department of State Growth to review current signage.
While “Wrong Way” and “No Entry” signs are in place, drivers are urged to be cautious as final construction continues in the area.

Stadium Deal Still On Track?
Premier Jeremy Rockliff says Tasmania’s stadium deal with the AFL remains on track, despite missing two key deadlines for planning and public works approvals.
The Macquarie Point project is central to Tasmania’s AFL team bid, but delays have sparked questions about the deal’s validity.
While the AFL has allowed flexibility due to the early election, concerns have been raised about renegotiations occurring during the caretaker period.

Operated by social enterprise SEED, the Recycle Rewards depot also provides employment and training opportunities for people with disability.
Since launching in May, the scheme has processed over 12 million containers statewide—more than half from the south. Open six days a week, the depot aims to boost recycling, reduce waste, and support the local community.
