Tasmania Devils Face Uncertain Future

Tasmania Devils executive Kath McCann broke down in tears during a press conference, highlighting the club's uncertain future amid political turmoil.

The AFL's 19th team, set to debut in 2028, faces jeopardy due to Premier Jeremy Rockliff's no-confidence motion and the contentious $945 million Macquarie Point stadium project.

McCann emphasized the absence of a "plan B," stressing the stadium's necessity for the team's viability and expressing concern over the negative national and international perceptions of the state's political instability.

Dream House Of The Week

This beautifully restored Queen Anne Federation home combines historic charm with modern luxury.

Featuring four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two lifts, it offers panoramic water views and elegant interiors.

Located in prestigious 'Old Sandy Bay,' it's close to schools, yacht clubs, and Hobart's CBD.

Listed at offers over $4.5 million, this property is a rare opportunity for discerning buyers.

Tasman Highway Upgrade Delay

Tasmania’s Infrastructure Minister Kerry Vincent has voiced frustration over delays to the Tasman Highway upgrade between Hobart Airport and Midway Point.

Despite a tentative 2025 start, construction hinges on federal environmental approvals. The project includes a duplicated Midway Point causeway and second McGees Bridge.

Updated plans aim to reduce environmental impact, but the timeline remains unclear until sign-off under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

Tasmanian Researchers Develop World-First

Tasmanian researchers have created a world-first finger-prick test to make home dialysis safer.

Led by Dr Rahul Patel from the University of Tasmania, the test checks for a harmful chemical called pyridine, which can form when certain antibiotics mix with dialysis fluids.

Easy to use and post in, this test could reduce the need for hospital visits and help people with kidney disease manage treatment more safely at home.
